Recently released and formerly secret United States files revealed that the Department of Defense (DOD) has investigated the best possible path to get in touch with aliens and speak with a possible 4,590 extraterrestrial civilizations.
The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) document, which was acquired by the Sun as part of a huge Freedom of Information request, is a scientific research into SETI, which is an acronym for Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence.
The report, which was sanctioned by the U.S. government, said its goal is to “ascertain whether alien civilizations exist in the universe, how far from us they exist and possibly how much more advanced than us they may be.”
“As of 2009, the only physical tools we know that could help us get in touch with aliens are the electromagnetic waves an alien civilization could emit and we could detect,” the report added.
However, with the current technology, the government cannot explore for aliens “beyond a few hundred light-years away.” It also said that in the past 50 years of SETI searches, no extra-terrestrial civilization was found because “quite simply we did not get far enough.”
Contact with aliens “demands the construction of much more powerful and radically new radio telescopes,” which the files said were being planned and should have been finished around 2020.
The report focused on how distant alien civilizations are and how long it will take humans to arrive there.
It assumed that there could be 4,590 extraterrestrial communities in the universe and the distance of the closest one is probably between 1,933 and 2,670 light-years away in accordance with advanced calculations from the former and current. (Related: Scientists identify 29 planets where aliens can observe Earth from a distance.)
It added that the scientific equations may turn into a “huge computer code,” which would turn out to be “Humanity’s first Encyclopedia Galactica.”
The report called “An introduction to the Statistical Drake Equation” was one of 52 reports, which consist of 1,574 pages secured this month.
The Sun initially asked for a copy of all “files, reports or video files” connected to the Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program (AATIP) on December 18, 2017 under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), just days after the program’s existence was announced publicly.
After more than four years, the DIA finally released over 1,500 actual X-Files records, along with government-commissioned scientific reports and letters to the Pentagon concerning the program.
The documents include studies on advanced technologies such as invisibility cloaks, plans for deep space exploration and colonization and reports on the biological effects of unidentified flying objects or UFO sightings on humans. However, the Pentagon “withheld in part” some sections of the document because of privacy and confidentiality concerns.
Other documents covered in the FOIA haul are reports on the health effects of UFO sightings, including burns, hair loss, insomnia and even abduction, sexual encounters and unexpected pregnancy.
The report lists alleged injuries to “human observers by anomalous advanced aerospace systems,” some of which may be a “threat to United States interests.” The documents said some of the victims were injured from “exposures to anomalous vehicles, especially airborne and when in close proximity.”
The Pentagon added that plenty of the injuries are connected to electromagnetic radiation, which it related to “energy-related propulsion systems.”
“Sufficient incidents/accidents have been accurately reported and medical data acquired, as to support a hypothesis that some advanced systems are already deployed, and opaque to full U.S. understandings. The medical analyses while not requiring the invention of alternative biophysics, do indicate the use of (to us) unconventional and advanced energy systems,” the report said.
The report also mentioned that it had 42 cases from medical files and 300 identical “unpublished” cases that detail humans being injured after an “anomalous” encounter. “Classified information exists that is highly pertinent to the subject of this study and only a small part of the classified literature has been released,” added the report.
AATIP was a clandestine Pentagon program that ran between 2007 and 2012 to study UFOs.
While technically these records were never “classified” or labeled as “top secret,” the program was outside public information until 2017 when former program director Luis Elizondo resigned from the Pentagon.
After his resignation, Elizondo revealed to the public several videos of an unidentified aircraft moving in nearly mind-boggling maneuvers.
